CHRIS BLACKWELLChris Blackwell is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Owner of Blackwell's Family Medicine. He was born and raised here in Tylertown and graduated Valedictorian from Dexter High School in 2000. Chris earned his Associate of Arts Degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College in 2004 and his Associate of Science in Nursing from Southwest Mississippi Community College in 2005. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi in 2010 and his Master of Science (Family Nurse Practitioner) from Alcorn State University in 2012. Chris specializes in Family and Emergency Medicine. He has been board certified in Family Medicine from the American Academy of Nurse Practictioners since 2012 and TeleEmergency Certified from the University of MS Medical Center since 2018. He is certified by Hormone Therapy Centers of America to administer Bio-identical Hormone Pellets and also certified by Empire Medical Training to perform Botox injections. He is a Member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and is also a Member of the Mississippi Association of Nurse Practionioners. Chris is married to Julie (Brown) Blackwell who owns the Prissy Peacock in Tylertown and has three children, Mason, Kyndal, and Karson, as well as a grandson Cole. Chris is an active Deacon of Tylertown Baptist Church and teaches RAs. He is the past President but still an active member of the Tylertown Chamber of Commerce and a past president of the Tylertown Rotary Club. Chris was elected Walthall County Coroner in 2019 and took office in January 2020. |
CARLA BARNES ODOMCarla Barnes Odom is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Blackwell's Family Medicine. She graduated from Salem Attendance Center in 2005. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2008. After 10 years of bedside nursing experience she furthered her education by earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2020. She is a Board certified Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and is licensed through the Mississippi Board of Nursing. Carla has 14 years of nursing experience with a background in medical surgical nursing, home health and women’s services. Carla resides in Kokomo with her husband, Casey, and their daughter, Annistyn. Carla and her family are long time members of Morgantown Church of God. Whenever Carla is not at work she enjoys spending quality time with her family, attending sporting events, and reading. |
Gene Williams is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Blackwell's Family Medicine. He was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana and raised in Angie, Louisiana. He attended and graduated from Dexter High School in 1976. Gene graduated from Southwest Mississippi Community College with an Associates Degree in Nursing in 1979. He started his Nursing career at Walthall County General Hospital. He has worked as an RN in Mississippi and Louisiana hospitals and health care organizations and gained experience in Medical, Surgical, OB/GYN, Emergency, Critical Care, Home Health Care, Psychiatric Mental Health and Nursing Administration. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University, New Orleans in 1993. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with Master of Nursing Science in Administration. He worked for several years as Nurse Executive before returning to the University of Southern Mississippi and earned Post Master Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017. After completing the Family Nurse Practitioner program, he completed the American Association of Nurse Practitioners national certification to earn the Family Nurse Practitioner Board Certification. Gene is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He has many years of nursing practice and enjoys family practices with special interest in helping patients manage hypertension and diabetes. Gene is married to Genie Williams and they reside in Angie, Louisiana. They are long time members of the Varnado Methodist Church. Genie is an RN and school nurse at Wesley Ray Elementary in Angie. They have two adult children, Joshua and Loren Williams. Gene and Joshua own and operate a cattle farm and raise Angus and Braunvieh cattle. |
Robin Campbell is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Blackwell's Family Medicine. She is board certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. She graduated in 1985 from Tylertown High School. She received her BS in Respiratory Therapy and was as an RT for seven years. She graduated from Southwest MS Community College in 1996 with an Associates Degree in Nursing. After fifteen years of nursing experience, she furthered her education by earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2014. She is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and is licensed through the Mississippi Board of Nursing. Robin has eighteen years of nursing experience in neonatal intensive care, recovery room, Pediatric and Cardiology Clinic. She received her Board Certification in Advanced Diabetes Management in 2019. She has over ten years experience as a Nurse Practitioner with the majority of her experience in Endocrinology/Diabetes management. She has experience with Type 2 and Type 1 Diabetes in adults and children aged four years and up. She has years of experience with oral diabetic medications, injectables, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitors. Robin resides in Hattiesburg with her daughter, Grace. Robin and Grace are members of Crosspointe Baptist Church. When Robin is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and kayaking on Magees Creek. |
